I have a laptop (Dell Precision 5530) that used to work with my external monitor (Dell SE2417HG 23.6") before a trip I made to the U.S. early January. When I came back, all of a sudden the external monitor stopped working.
Windows manages to detect it and says everything is ok but it's just not sending any HDMI signals to the monitor. I've been trying a bunch of stuff since and nothing seems to work.
These are a list of things I tried in no particular order:
- I tried connecting the monitor to another co-worker's laptop to isolate the problem. it worked
- Tried loading linux on my laptop to see if it would work and it did.
- Tried clean installing both the internal graphics (Intel UHD 630) and the Nvidia graphics (Quadro P2000).
- I tried updating my BIOS.
- I tried reinstalling Windows (clean install).
- I tried running Windows 10 instead of Windows 11.
- I even tried Windows 7.
- I tried deleting registry files.
- I tried cloning a working system (co-worker's) but stopped because of space issues, maybe this is my only way out I don’t know. need an external hard drive for the cloning.
At this point I don’t know what’s left to try.
I hope to be someone that can fix these things but having a problem this close to home that I cant fix really sucks.
Am I missing something fundamental?
