I purchased a 4K (HDMI 2.0 with 60Hz support) projector some time ago, and I want to reuse the HDMI 1.4 AV receiver for sound in my studio setup to save some money.
I run into a problem, where when I output 4K 60Hz video to the projector while simultaneously output audio through Type-C to HDMI cable to the AV receiver, the video signal drops every several seconds. I'm using 2020 M1 Mac mini, and have set the AV receiver "display" setting to mirror that of the projector.
I'm guessing that the glitch is due to AV receiver cannot receive HDMI 2.0 4K video, and the Mac is outputting HDMI 2.0 to both sides.
I know this is going to be some kind of XY problem, because what I asked in the title may not be the real solution to the problem. But nonetheless, I'd like to know: Is there a way to disable video output over Type-C to HDMI cable?
